Always have reverence for God !

Always have reverence for God !

Hello Beloved,

I would like to talk to you about an obstacle to seeing the prayers we pray to the Father answered: familiarity. The Bible gives us a tangible example with the inhabitants of Nazareth, Jesus’ hometown. So many souls were touched by the Lord and benefited from His miracles in the many regions He went to, and yet as many people had refused to believe in Him in the region of Nazareth. Because they grew up with Him since His childhood, the Nazarene saw a familiar person in Jesus instead of seeing Him as the Messiah, the Son of God. “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works ? Is this not the carpenter’s son ?  They wondered when the Lord Jesus started teaching in the synagogue (Matthew 13:54-55). Consequently, He did not perform many miracles in that place, because of their unbelief (Matthew 13:54-58).

Weren’t there sick people among the Nazarene, or people who faced challenges and in quest for answers to their problems ? Yes, there were ! On the other hand, those who did not see as Jesus as their next-door neighbor or  childhood friend but who rather saw him as the Lord and Savior were able to experience the divine supernatural with Christ. Those who despised His lordship were obviously unable to experience His miracles !

Unfortunately, out of habit, many Christians end up developing a familiar relationship with their pastors and other spiritual authorities that God established among them. And with such attitude, it becomes difficult for them to benefit from the graces and the anointing that God placed over their lives. There is even worse ! Many children of God also end up with the habit of trivializing God’s sacredness and have no reverence for Him. For instance, in the sanctuary, in God’s presence, they display behaviors such as chewing gum or communicating on the phone. Would you have such attitude if you were in the presidential palace in the presence of your country’s head of state ? No ! So why behave as such in the presence of the Most High God? Do you really think that He will answer you if you were to pray under such circumstances?

In Malachi 1:7-8, the Lord made a reproach to the Israeli priests because they would offer Him blind, crippled or handicapped animals, or unclean foods. “A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence ?” says the Lord in Malachi 1:6.

Beloved, in your intimacy with God, be careful not to fall into familiarity with Him. When you speak to the King of kings, when you enter His presence to seek His face, know that there is none greater than Him. So, always have reverence for your God: He is sovereign ! Be strict with yourself and take drastic measures if you must, by keeping your phone away from you or any other gadget, that could interfere with your time of intimacy with God. Have a stance that honors the Lord. To avoid being distracted during your prayer times, favor nighttime prayers, before sunrise. Fear and honor God, respect His presence !

God is omniscient. In seeing that you revere Him, with the help of the Holy Spirit, He will pay attention to your supplications and answer your prayers!

May God bless you Beloved
