“All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.” This portion of Scripture from Matthew 25 :32-33 does not only tell us about the final judgment, but also reveals that there are two types of Christian on earth: the type of “goat” and the type of “sheep”. Both types will not have the same fate in the last days, as we are told by the Word of God (Matthew 25 :34,41)
“I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own (…) My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me», says the Lord Jesus in John 10 :14,27. “Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word”, as also written in John 8 :43. In other words, those who do not listen to the Master’s voice, who do not follow His commandments and do not put the Word of God into practice are not considered the sheep of the Good Shepherd.
As much as the sheep is known for its obedient and docile character, so the goat is recognized as a stubborn animal. What kind of Christian are you? Goat? Or sheep? Do you put the commandments of the Lord in practice? Do you let Him guide you, do you walk by the Spirit, or do you let yourself be led by the works of the flesh and take your life as you see fit? Is the Bible your compass or is it your flesh and the world that lead you? Do you sort out the divine commandments that please you? Do you leave the Lord to help you in your decisions or do you decide to choose and force Him to follow you in your choices?
Know, Beloved, that the Lord fulfills with love His duties as Good Shepherd only to those who are truly His children and whom He regards as His sheep. He gives them life in abundance (John 10: 10-11). His sheep lack nothing. He makes them lie down in green pastures, leads them besides still waters, restores their souls. He leads them into the paths of righteousness … He commands goodness and mercy to follow them every day of their lives …, says Psalms 23 again.
To be a sheep of the Master is not only to obey His precepts. It’s also following him. But where does the Master go so that you can follow Him? “He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God”, as recounted in Luke 8: 1 (Luke 13:22, Matthew 9:35). So therefore, beloved, as sheep of the Lord, choose to follow in the footsteps of the Master. Preach the gospel around you and decide to join the evangelism programs of your church or community. Also visit the sick and the prisoners, feed the hungry and thirsty … in short, do good around you (Matthew 25: 35: 40).
Then, on the day of judgment, the Good Shepherd and righteous Judge will position you on His right, you will be called blessed of God and you will then possess the heavenly inheritance that God has reserved only for … His sheep (Matthew 25:34)!
May God bless you Beloved
”Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world (…) Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels”.
”The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep“.
”The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will ]dwell in the house of the Lord forever“.
«And He went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem».
