Hello [subscriber:firstname | default:Beloved],
This week, I would like to focus on this verse from Luke 18:41: “Saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.” This conversation takes place between a blind man and the Lord Jesus. What a strange question from the Lord, some may think! The Master could see that this man was blind but He decided to ask him the question to know his will.
Many Christians do not clearly express their will to the Lord. They think that God knows everything, and therefore, they find it useless to try to tell Him what they want. Others go one step further and say : “There is no need, God will do what He wants anyway. They prefer to make a prayer that seems godly, such as, “Lord, just Your will”, but deep down, it conceals a profound inner confusion.
“A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord”, it is written in 1 Corinthians 7:39. The Word of God does not say that she is free to marry whomever God wants her to marry, but to whomever she wants, only let it be in the Lord!
On the way to the cross, the Lord Jesus did not hide His will from God: “ And He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will” (Mark 14:36). So do not deny your will, but imitate Christ! Express your will and in your prayers, tell Him also: “Not my will, but what You want”.
Beloved, your will is important. The Lord’s will is important too. But in order for you to discern the will of the Lord, you must know what you want. God’s will is like a direction that God gives you to show you which way you should go. In order for Him to show you the way, you must already be in motion. He who has no will is like a vehicle at a standstill.
Your will may or may not be God’s will for you. However, He wants you to express it clearly. Do not be without desire, plan, or purpose before your God concerning your needs. Do you want God to give you a co-worker in your business? Then describe his or her profile to your God! Do you want a good nanny to look after your children? Tell your heavenly Father what kind of nanny you would like to have. Do you want to get married? Tell God the kind of spouse you want, express your will to Him, and He will show you the way. The Bible says in Philippians 4:6: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”. Yes, God invites you to make your needs known to Him!
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”, it is written in Romans 12:2. “ But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil”, the Scriptures also say in Hebrews 5:14. By spending time in prayer and seeking the face of God to express Your will to Him and to seek to know the Father’s will, Your discernment will be sharpened and You will see Your will being directed towards His will. This is the way that will make you see the glory of your God.
May God bless you!
