Hello Beloved,
“Father, if it is your will, take this cup away from me; nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done.” This prayer is the one made by the Lord Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:42). He, who had the fullness of divinity, left his throne of glory to offer Himself as a sacrifice on the cross. He knew that he was going to suffer the wrath of the Most High God because He bore the sins of all mankind but he accepted to pay the full price.
The Lord Jesus could also have said to himself: “Father, with your mighty power, you can find another way to save humanity“, but no ! “Not my will but your will be done” He said to the Father. Yes, Jesus chose voluntarily to do the God’s will and obey the Father and that is why we are saved.
Many Christians made the choice to no longer walk in iniquity. However, they sin by refusing to do God’s will. Beloved, the term ” sin ” has a wider connotation than the word ” iniquity ”. When it comes to lies, robbery, fornication, adultery, cheating, and other things alike, we talk about iniquity. But the word “sin” means in Hebrew to miss the purpose.
Many people miss the Lord’s purpose. They sin and consider that it is not too serious since they are not committing iniquity as such. Do you privilege your sleep when Lord asks you to wake up at 4 am to pray ? Did you refuse a post that the Lord offered you, on the pretext that it is poorly paid in comparison to your charges ? You are missing the purpose, when you act this way ! You are a Pastor and to win souls, the Lord tells you to use the funds He has put at your disposal to organize an evangelism crusade; but you decide to do something else, such as buying the land that is offered to you to build the church. Know that in so doing, you missed the purpose ! You have sinned !
For having also disobeyed and not waiting patiently for Samuel, did not Saul lose his kingship (1 Samuel 13-8-14)? Beloved, when you do not do God’s will, you are disobeying God; even if you do not commit iniquity, know that you are sinning. And that can have serious consequences in your life and sometimes on your descendants. By simply not accomplishing God’s will, when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they dragged all mankind into sin.
Sin can easily lead to iniquity per se, as was David’s case. He usually went for war with his soldiers. However, one day he decided to do his own will by staying in his palace (2 Samuel 11:1): this negligence and laziness ended up leading him to adultery and then murder !
As you see, God does not just consider as sin, committing iniquity. Be obedient; do not let your ‘self’ dominate you by seeking to do your will. Quite enough disobedience has deprived God’s children of divine grace. The fulfilment of God’s will through obedience is the compulsory passage to blessings (Deuteronomy 28: 2). So fulfil God’s will and be an imitator of Christ by obeying God’s voice.
May God bless you Beloved

“Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men”.
Colossians 3: 17
