Enhance your prayers with thanksgiving !

Hello Beloved,

I would like to meditate with you this passage from Philippians 4: 6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”. With thanksgiving? How can we show gratitude for something that we ask for and have not yet received? Surprising, isn’t it? Human logic does not say thanks before seeing the fulfillment of the request and yet this is what “divine logic” recommends through the Word of God.

The Lord Jesus, before the grave of Lazarus, who died four days before and was already in a state of putrefaction, gave thanks to God. Thus, his prayer of gratitude preceded the miracle of resurrection (John 11:41). He acted the same way with the large crowd he had to feed when he had only five loaves of bread and two fish (Matthew 14:19). Jesus simply wanted to teach us that thanksgiving activates God’s intervention.

As you can see in the scripture of Philippians, thanksgivings go hand in hand with prayers. Thanksgiving is a powerful instrument that makes prayer more effective. It is not a matter of saying thank you from the tip of the tongue but taking actions and having an attitude that manifests this gratitude we want to express to God. Learn, then, to rejoice before receiving God’s answer. When you pray for a topic, always include thanksgiving, not only in words but above all take actions of gratitude (gestures, smile, inner attitude, etc.). It is an act of faith that proves your full confidence in God, this God who answers. Act this way and you will see the glory of God!
