Hello Beloved,
As soon as the Israelites left Egypt, they faced a serious thirst problem. « they went three days in the wilderness and found no water », says the Bible in Exodus 15:22. Water is not soda, nor anything luxurious but a vital need for Man. In your walk with the Lord, you may be deprived of a primary need, such as health, feeding, childbirth, employment, peace, marriage, etc. This situation (of illness, hunger, bareness, unemployment, lack of peace, celibacy, etc.) that you are experiencing creates a thirst in you. It is a painful situation! And you weep before the face of God. If it is not due to any sin or ignorance, then know that you are experiencing a wilderness into which God Himself is leading you, for a specific purpose.
In their journey and in their search for water to quench their thirst, the people of Israel saw from afar Marah, a water-point. The joy was very short-lived when they rushed to it: the water of Mara was bitter and therefore undrinkable! What a disappointment!
After several years of celibacy, you finally meet a person you believe to be the right one and after some time getting to know each other, you discover, for example, that he/she is also engaged with other people. This is Mara’s water! You finally find work after a long period of unemployment and you hope to finally plan your future but several months later, you receive no pay! What a disappointment! You thought you were cured after this treatment that cost you so much, but the doctor’s verdict unfortunately tells you that nothing has changed, and that the sickness is persisting. You drank Mara’s water!
So many disappointed hopes when you live in a Mara type situation! Face with this, do not act as Israel who murmured against Moses (Exodus 15:24). Instead, imitate Moses who cried out to the Lord (Exodus 15:25) and received a precise instruction: The Lord showed him a wood which he threw into the water of Marah and it became sweet. You too, pray and cry out to God! He is your Father. He will give you your wood, a clear instruction that will sweeten “your water of Mara”.
Do not forget that God is love and that He does not take pleasure in making you suffer. But He has a wonderful plan for you. This wilderness has a purpose. Like the Lord Jesus before the sickness and death of Lazarus (John 11:4) or the blindness of the man blind from birth (John 9:2-3), believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that your situation is for the glory of God! Yes, Beloved, the thirst for this essential need that you are experiencing and even this water of Mara of false hopes and disillusionment that you had to taste, happened in order for the glory of God to be manifested.
After Mara, the Lord led Israel to Elim, where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees (Exodus 15:27). What God has in store for you is not just a point of water but a source of water. He is not content about simply giving you a job that will enable you to pay for your monthly expenses, but a job that will rather be a source of blessing for many! The glorious marriage that He has in store for you is so that you may be a source of blessing for many people! The healing that He has planned for you is so that through your testimony and the gift of healing that God wants to give you, many people will be healed of their sickness! The destiny of this child that He wants to give you and your spouse after so many years of bareness, is glorious and a blessing for generations!
“He who believes in Me, …, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water”, the Lord Jesus promises you this in John 7:38. Remember therefore, Beloved, that Christ will not only quench your thirst, but He also make rivers of living water flow from you so that you may be a source of blessing to many.
Hold on, stay attached to God and you will come out victorious of this wilderness. Glory be to the Lord!
May God bless you Beloved
