Give us and not give me!

Give us and not give me!

Hello [user:firstname | default:Beloved],

When I observe the “Our Father” prayer that Jesus taught his disciples, one element draws my attention: the Lord did not say, “Give me today my daily bread.” Rather, he used the first Plural pronoun: “Give us this day our daily bread …”.(Matthew 6: 11).

What does the Lord want to teach you? Simply that your prayers should not focus on yourself but on a larger set of people. Some of your prayers remain unanswered because they are only focused on you. Ask the Lord to give you and your neighbor daily bread.

If you are asking God to give you a child, then please pray also that He will remember all the childless couples in your church, in your family, in your neighborhood and beyond. Have you been looking for a child for the last five years? Your neighbor and his wife may have been on the same quest for a longer time! Are you begging God to help so that you get payed your three months’ salary arrears? In your neighborhood, there are surely several other people in the same situation as you, perhaps worse. So, stand in the gap and intercede for them.

Taking authority over circumstances and stubborn situations helps restore order. Through your prayer of authority, you must blow the final whistle for the spirits that are fighting you and for all those situations that do not reflect the kingdom of God in your life. Didn’t the Lord give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19)?

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” recommends the Lord in Galatians 6: 2. Yes, this is the will of God and if you do it, He will answer you.

So, Beloved, do not be perpetually in ”me, myself and I ” mode, but in your prayers, learn to switch to ”us” mode. God is omniscient and He will remember it!

May God bless you [user:firstname | default:Beloved]
