GOD IS CALLING YOU TO WORK IN HIS HARVEST!

It is written in Luke 6:12-13: “Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles”. As I read this scripture, I wondered why Jesus stayed up all night to seek the face of God before choosing the twelve apostles, the very ones who were to take over from Him, to go out into the world to proclaim the gospel, after His ascension to the Father. When we look at the quality of the people chosen, it is a curious choice, isn’t it?

He did not choose the Pharisees, nor the scribes, nor the doctors of the law of that time.  But among the twelve was a fisherman like Peter, or a tax collector like Matthew. Even the women who followed Him in His ministry had, for some of them, a poor past. ”And certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance“, says Luke 8:2. Yes, beloved, the Lord chose ordinary people like you and me. He chose, who were wallowing in a life of sin and wants to use us in His harvest; this great harvest that is ready and needs labourers to reap it in this new decade.

God is asking us to pray to Him, the master of this harvest, so that He sends laborers. Countless souls are perishing around us, but the Father’s wonderful plan is that they come to the knowledge of the Truth that is Christ. Who is going to speak to them but you and I? Christ prayed that long because He wanted to see the eyes and minds of the disciples opened so that they would realize that they were chosen to announce the gospel. When they understood, they were filled and clothed with the power of the Holy Spirit and were able to do great deeds in the name of Jesus Christ!

The Lord is calling you to His work, He is calling you to come and work for the gathering of this great harvest that is ready. Do not look at your weaknesses, do not look at your shortcomings. He calls you as you are. Are you a seamstress or a tailor? Are you a doctor or a carpenter? Are you a taxi driver, a lawyer? Artist, engineer, shopkeeper? Don’t look at your qualifications or the type of work you do. God wants to use it to preach the gospel to your fellow men. The Samaritan woman, divorced five times, when she came to the well to fetch water, could she have imagined that she would become the instrument that God would use to save the inhabitants of her city? And yet, this feat was achieved in Her life (John 4:6-30)!

Jesus gave His life for you. Deny yourself and accept to follow Him! Let the fire of His Spirit set you on fire and draw out the champion hidden within you! God wants to use you and His mighty hand rests upon you. Become an enthusiastic follower of Christ and you will accomplish His works with power! He resurrected Lazarus after four days in the grave! He turned water into wine! He walked on water! God wants to use you for greater works than these. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father”, He assures us in John 14:12.

Beloved, my prayer is that God may open your eyes, that you may realize that He is calling you to take part in His work. Do not be preoccupied with the cares of life, but seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all other things shall be granted you. And believe me, in abundance!
