Hello Beloved,
For the past few weeks, the Lord has been teaching us to call God our Father when we pray, according to the scripture of Luke 11:2a.
A few days ago, a sister told me: “Pastor Mohammed, I heard the teaching but I find it hard to call God my Father simply because I don’t know who a father is. I never had any”. Another person told me that he had a bad image of his biological father and this had a negative influence on the way he sees the heavenly Father.
Many children of God live in a similar situation: some have suffered from a lack of affection or have been maltreated by their biological father, while others have received a poor education from their father. As a result, they have a bad image of their father and find it difficult to accept within themselves that God is their Father.
“Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven,” says the Bible in Matthew 23:9. This scripture does not mean that you should not refer to your biological father as your father because the Bible strongly recommends that you honor your parents (Ephesians 6:2). However, you should consider God as your genuine Father. God is the only one who must be truly considered as a Father, as a Daddy for those who have believed in Him.
It is written in Matthew 11:27b “No one (…) knows the Father except the Son and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him”. Beloved, Christ wants to reveal to you the Father, that heavenly Father who loves you (1 John 3:1), who shows all His kindness to you, who grants you all His attention when you call upon Him; that Father who takes care of the smallest details of your life, even the most incredible ones such as your next vacation or your haircut (John 15:16). Therefore, Jesus intends not only to reveal to you this heavenly Father who chastises you out of love in order to bring you back on the right path when you go astray (Hebrews 12:6), but also this Father who lifts you up so you can give the very best of yourselves. He takes care of you and does not forsake you (Matthew 6:26; 1 Peter 5:6-7; Joshua 1:5). He defends you against your adversaries.
Therefore, beloved, clear your mind of any bad image of the father. Honor your biological father in your heart and with your lips (even if he is no longer of this world). Forgive him, if he hurt you. Then have the right image of God as your real Father. Discover your heavenly Father and realize what He is doing in your life.
Accept this powerful revelation of Christ with all your heart and confess it constantly with your mouth so that this Word may come to life in you. You will then be able to increase your faith and realize the profound meaning of Christ’s recommendation: “When you pray, say “Father”!
May God bless you Beloved
