Godliness with contentment : the winning pair !

Godliness with contentment : the winning pair !

Hello [user:firstname | default:Beloved],

In this season, the Lord promises us the superabundant supply. But the Bible tells us about two inseparable things, source great of gain, we must have: godliness and contentment (1Timothy 6: 6).

Godliness concerns your prayer life as a whole: your attachment to God, your holiness, your dedication to Christ, your service in the house of the Lord, your communion with God, etc. However, godliness alone is not enough to earn much.

Contentment is what we feel when we are satisfied with what we have, as little as it may seem. Christians fast and pray a lot but receive little because they lack contentment. They tend to despise the little they have instead of giving thanks to God for that.

Am I saying that we have to resign ourselves to what we have and not aspire to having more? Far from it! I’m just trying to make you understand this: do not despise the little you have; rejoice about what you have already received from God.

The Lord Jesus was to feed a crowd of 5,000 people, not counting women and children. But He had only five loaves of bread and two fish at his disposal for the whole crowd. He did not look with contempt at what He had but He rejoiced and gave thanks to God for it (Matthew 14:19). This attitude of contentment was source of gain: the miracle of multiplication took place and the whole crowd was fed, to the extent that there were even twelve baskets full of remains.

Are you dissatisfied with the modest salary you have? Are you looking for a better job? Bless God for the work you have right now because it enables you to eat and pay some bills even though it’s insufficient. Rejoice about that! Are you complaining about your spouse? Bless God for having one (many around you are yearning to be married) and bless God for his qualities instead of focusing only on his flaws. Is your body suffering? Bless God for the breath of life you already have. Are you tired of the multiple breakdowns of your car? Rejoice to have one because many around you do not even have a car! You have a farm that, for now, produces little? Rejoice in the little harvest already obtained! You just opened a church and your congregation is mainly made up of children who come to rejoice to the sound of the drum beats? Do not despise them! Rejoice, for these are the souls that God has sent you!

The Bible tells you in Zechariah 4:10: Do not despise small beginnings. God always begins insignificantly. Learn to be happy about what God has already given you, even if it does not seem enough to meet all your expectations. Be happy with what God did in 2017, even if you were expecting more. You will see that this mentality of contentment will open this year for you, big doors so as for you to to take your inheritance. May godliness and contentment be a great source of gain for you in this season of superabundant supply !

May God bless you [user:firstname | default:Beloved]
