Hello Beloved,
“…Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends” (Luke 15:29)
This is a complaint made by a young man in the Bible who had a brother, and both lived with their father. The young brother had just returned home after squandering, in sin, his share of the inheritance he had claimed from their father. The latter, afflicted by the departure of his son, was nevertheless happy to see him return to live under his roof, with a repentant heart. He was touched and clothed his son in new clothes. He put a ring on his finger and killed a fattened calf to celebrate his return. But this attitude of the father towards his prodigal son did not please the older son, who did not hide his resentment and anger. “...as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him….” he said. “Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.” (Luke 15:31) the father replied.
The eldest of the two boys, although a son (of his father), did not enjoy his father’s inheritance. Not only had he also received his share of the inheritance (Luke 15:12b), but the father had also given him access to all his wealth. However, he was not aware of it.
Beloved, how many children of God do not enjoy the possessions of their heavenly Father? They have devoted themselves to the temple, fasting, praying unceasingly, in sanctification and committed in the service of the Lord for years. Unfortunately, they believe that by showing such faithfulness to God, they will be rewarded for their good and loyal service to God. They seek a number of blessings such as work, marriage, childbirth, material wealth but do not obtain it, despite many years of Christian life. So, when some younger brothers or sisters in the faith get what they have searching for so long, they become frustrated, jealous, and bitter, and they start blaming God.
Beloved, you must become aware of your identity as a son/daughter of God. The Lord is your Father and everything that belongs to Him is also yours. Don’t doubt it! You cannot buy it with your multiple prayers and time of consecration to serve Him. Get rid of this servant mentality and have the mentality of a son of God! The enemy is trying to make you doubt your identity as a son/daughter of God, as he did with Jesus when he tried Him in the wilderness. “If you are the Son of God…” he said many times to Him to lead Him to doubt His identity as Son (Matthew 4:3,5). But the Lord Jesus did not need to prove that He was the Son of God. He simply was! The enemy knows that if you are not aware of your identity as a son/daughter, you cannot enjoy the inheritance of your heavenly Father. Don’t fall into that trap. From the moment you received Christ, you received the power to become a child of God (John 1:12). You have received a spirit of adoption by whom you can cry out Abba! Father! (Romans 8:15)
Therefore, strive to remain a son/daughter of God. Become aware of your status as son/daughter of God and this will open the way for your prayers to be answered in an extraordinary way, so that you will possess your inheritance and enjoy the privileges of that glorious status that your Father gives you: that of a son !
May God bless you Beloved
