Hello [user:firstname | default:Beloved],
When you pray, you often say at the end of your prayers – and I really hope you do it systematically – “… In the name of Jesus, amen.” Is it a simple closing formula or are you aware of what it means ? This is the point I would like to share with you this week.
It is written in the Word of God that ” The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. ” (James 5:16). This implies that some prayers may be ineffective. One reason why prayers are inefficient is that when praying, we do not realize that we are doing it in the name of Jesus.
Revelation 12:10 reveals to us that the devil accuses us day and night before the Father so that our prayers will not be answered. He asks for us just as he asked for Peter in Luke 22: 31-32. A few years ago, I victim of this. I was caught up to Heaven, to take part in the Council of God. But once there, the enemy began to accuse me, brandishing all my sins before God and telling Him that I had no right to be there in the presence of God. I wanted to get angry but the Holy Spirit told me not to say anything but to hide in the blood of Jesus, i.e. to take refuge in Christ. From that moment, Satan could no longer sift me. He had to back off.
The Bible calls him the accuser and he constantly accuses the children of God, like a prosecutor who overwhelms an accused before the judge. He will use all possible arguments: your weaknesses, your disobedience, etc. If you present yourself before God in your own name, on your behalf, the devil will find even in the Bible something to accuse you about. And this would make your prayers inefficient because God is righteous and He respects His Word.
Do you want to have victory over the accusations of the devil when you pray ? Become aware then, you must pray, not in your own name but in the name of Jesus Christ ! This is even a recommendation of the Lord Jesus Himself: “If you ask anything in my name, I will do it” (John 14:14). What a great assurance ! If God finds you righteous, you will be heard. How then are you justified ? By the blood of Jesus and by faith in Him ! (Romans 5: 9 and Galatians 2:16).
When an ambassador speaks in the country where he is accredited, he speaks on behalf of the country he represents. If he is the victim of an incident, we call it a diplomatic incident because he acts and speaks not on his own behalf but on behalf of his country. If the Head of State of the country where you are, sends you an emissary to speak to you on his behalf, you would take that for the word of the Head of State himself and grant these words, the honour and the credit due to it ! It is the same when you pray in the name of Jesus. Address to the Father your petitions in the name of Jesus. Become aware that this is not a simple formula, but a whole state of mind. God the Father will not see you but will see Christ in whose name you are coming. Jesus affirms it in John 11:42: The Father always answers Him !
To make yourself invisible to the eyes of the enemy, pray in the name of Jesus ! Take refuge, hide yourself in Christ (Colossians 3: 3). Jacob understood this when he wanted to take his father Isaac blessings (Genesis 27: 1-29). Although this usurpation is not a good example to follow among humans, but it perfectly illustrates the image of the refuge in Christ to obtain the graces and favours of God. Jacob could obtain powerful blessings from his father because he came in the name of his brother, making himself pass for him.
When you pray in the name of Jesus, you pretend to be Christ. It is no longer you, presenting yourself before God, but Christ. So, from now on, measure the importance of this sentence you say at the end of each prayer that you address to the Father: “in the name of Jesus, amen !” So be it!
Let us pray: “Father I come in your presence, in the name of Your son Jesus who gave his life for me, to pray to you. By your Holy Spirit, enable me to be aware that I must always pray in the name of Jesus. I no longer want this to be a simple formula which’s importance I do not measure, but grant me the grace to always be in this state of mind. I ask you Father, in the name of Jesus. Amen ! “.
May God bless you [user:firstname | default:Beloved]
