Hello [subscriber:firstname | default:Beloved],
Last week, in my exhortation, I spoke to you about THE blessing mentioned in Deuteronomy 28:8 and which is attached to your life as a child of God: “The Lord will command the blessing to be with you in your barns and in all your undertakings. He will bless you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. With this word, God is letting you know that He has commanded THE blessing to follow you in all areas of your life. This is the inheritance that He reserves for His children, for those whom He calls His sons (sons as well as daughters). This inheritance of THE blessing will not be yours when you leave this earth and go to Heaven. It is yours today and now, because Christ, the Testator, died for you and bequeathed it to you (Romans 8:17; Hebrews 9:14-18).
Unfortunately, many Christians do not see THE blessing in action in their lives. They confess that they are sons of God, but they don’t really realize it. This can be heard clearly in the way they pray. They call themselves sons but call God by his title “Everlasting”. Everlasting God, my King…”, they constantly say in their prayers. They line up these words and phrases without much thought to the words they say. It is as if, as a company CEO or Minister, your son or daughter calls you at home all the time: “Mr. CEO” or “Excellency Mr. Minister”. How would you feel? It is understandable that he or she would call you that in the professional environment, in public to honor your title, but not at home, nor in private!
Because you have received Christ in your life and believe in His name, you have been empowered to become a child of God (John 1:12). The Lord Jesus gave a precise instruction to the sons of God: “When you pray, say Father” (Luke 11:2)! If you are truly born again by receiving Christ into your life, be aware that God is your Daddy, Beloved!
As a son/daughter of God, there are prayers you should no longer pray, as well as worries you should no longer have. Why do you worry about your health, house rent, marriage, finances, etc.? Maybe you’ve lost your job and you’re panicking about how you’ll survive this situation? If such a thought is going through your mind, you are not yet aware that you are a son/daughter of God and that your heavenly Father has the responsibility to take care of you. As a son, it is not a privilege that He grants you as He would grant a privilege to a faithful servant! It is His duty to take care of you. “So don’t worry, and don’t say, ‘What shall we eat? What shall we drink? What shall we wear? For all these things the heathen seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them,” the Word of God clearly tells you in Matthew 6:31-32. Notice, the Bible does not say that your God knows you need these things, but it does quote your heavenly Father
My son Michael Braddi is studying abroad. Paying for his schooling, his student rent is not a concern for him because he knows that his dad is responsible for handling such matters. He may, at the very least, call me back when a deadline arrives. However, he will not beg me to take responsibility.
Therefore, be aware that you are a son/daughter of God, constantly bear in mind that the Creator of heaven and earth, the One who holds the whole universe in His hands, the Master of times and circumstances, the One to whom gold and silver belong, the author of the 12 blessings of Deuteronomy 28:1-13, is your Dad! The wonderful blessings contained in the Word of God are your inheritance. You can remind God of your situation and revive His memory (even though as God, He never forgets) but you don’t have to fight all the time, begging Him to take possession of your inheritance! He orders the blessing to pursue you and to attach itself to you. It’s up to you to be aware of your identity and status as a son/daughter, to walk and pray as such to see THE blessing active in your life!
May God bless you
