“And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” So, He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer”, it is written in Mark 9:29. You may be in a stubborn situation that persists in your life: illness, unemployment, chronic celibacy, lack of peace in your relationship, barrenness, poverty, etc. You fought spiritually to change your situation, but perhaps it hasn’t worked so far! You have bound and driven away demons, broken family ties but to no avail. You ordered the mountain to move and throw itself into the sea, with no result! Know that only prayer directed to God is the solution to this difficult problem.
The disciples did not seek to drive out indefinitely the mute spirit that possessed this child they wanted to deliver. At one point, they turned to the Lord Jesus to find out why they could not overcome the evil spirit. It is certainly important to wage a spiritual warfare when facing certain adversities. But when, despite everything, the situation persists, we must turn to the Lord and cry out to Him. It is also important to avoid holding a third person or institution or circumstance responsible for the situation you are in.
Are you blaming your country’s government for having a bad employment policy and being at the root of the chronic unemployment you are experiencing? Are you accusing the witches in your village of preventing you from having a child? Are you blaming this person to whom you were engaged for years and who betrayed you and abandoned you to marry someone else? Do you think that family ties are essentially at the root of the disease that is gradually destroying your body? Do you consider your spouse to be responsible for the lack of peace in your home? Do you think it’s your boss who is responsible for your professional setbacks? Are you accusing your relative of having pushed you into making this bad investment that is at the root of your current financial problems?
Amid disillusionment, false hopes, betrayals, failures and frustrations, Man often tends to hold others responsible. Adam and Eve lost a lot of power on earth because after the fall, Adam accused Eve and God of being responsible for his mistake; Eve, for her part, accused the snake of having deceived her (Genesis 3:12-13). The moment you hold someone responsible for your misery, you give them power over your life and you lose control of your future. Certainly, these people, these evil spirits or these circumstances have, at some point, worked against you. However, don’t give them the power to control your life, as if it depended on it!
Remember, Beloved, that you gave your life to the Lord (and nothing else) on the day you turned to Christ. “Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I will pray” says the Bible in Psalms 5:2. Then turn to the One to whom you have entrusted your life and pray to your God! Ask Him how to stop being betrayed, deceived or scammed!
This kind of challenge that stands before you, as Mark 9:29 says, can only be overcome by prayer. There will always be bad guys. Forgive the physical persons whom you must forgive and then focus on God and speak to Him. Ask your Father and know that He will answer you and show you hidden things, if there are any (Jeremiah 33:3). “Lord, why don’t I have this or that? Why is this happening to me? Father, I would like to understand to do Your will”: this must be Your prayer! Like Moses in front of the water of Mara, cry out to God and He will tell you what to do. Then, He will lead you to the springs of water He has in store for you, which will make you a source of blessings for many.
May God bless you Beloved
“Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I will pray.”
“You are my King, O God; command victories for Jacob.“
2 Corinthians 12:7-9
“And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness (…).”
“And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and [a]mighty things, which you do not know.”
“He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. .”
“The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me— A prayer to the God of my life.”
