Put away childish things !

Hello Beloved,

I would like to share with you 1 Corinthians 13:11: “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things”.

In this scripture, Paul does not say that God removed childish things in him, but he rather says: “I put away childish things”.  It is therefore up to you to abolish in your Christian life what is keeping you as a child and preventing you from owning your inheritance.

“Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father…”, says the Bible in Galatians 4:1-2. When the heir is a minor, he cannot access the inheritance left by his parents, except when he reaches the age of majority. The spiritual majority has nothing to do with your age or the number of years elapsed since your new birth. You can be 72 years of age and still be a spiritual baby, just as you can be 16 years of age and be spiritually mature.

For a newborn child to grow up, he or she must be fed. In the same way, the born-again Christian must also be nourished by the Word of God to grow spiritually.  This maturity is achieved when he puts the Word into practice. The Word of God says in Hebrews 5:12-13 “And you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe “. Does the Lord still need to remind you that you must give up the works of the flesh (fornication, lies, deception, selfishness, resentment, unforgiving heart, idol worship, and a lack of meditation of the Word of God and prayerful life, etc.)?  Even if you have just been born again, you should know that you must work towards your spiritual growth by putting into practice the Word of God.

Can a father give a car to his 5 or 10 year old child? No, because he knows that this wonderful gift would lead the child to death because he is underage to drive this car. Would a father let his little child run the family business? No, because he knows that his immaturity would drive the company into bankruptcy! God is not yet giving you the spouse you are expecting because you may not yet have the necessary maturity to manage a household. God may not give you yet the money you are expecting from him, your heavenly Father, because your lack of spiritual maturity may lead you to squander it and forget him, once you are blessed.

Do you want to possess your inheritance? Do you want to see God’s promises fulfilled in your life? The Bible encourages you to grow in faith and become spiritually mature. Do not be like children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men and the deceitfulness of false prophets but grow in the knowledge of Christ to become a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13-14). So put away childish things in your life and you will see the glory of God!
