REALIZE THAT GOD IS YOUR DAD!

REALIZE THAT GOD IS YOUR DAD!

Hello [subscriber:firstname | default:Beloved],

Often, when I hear Christians praying, many are accustomed to saying “Everlasting God, my King, I praise you, I bless you…, etc. They align these words and expressions without thinking much about the words they utter. They are always calling God ‘Everlasting God”. Yet Jesus gave His disciples a clear and firm recommendation: “When you pray, say Father” (Luke 11:2a)!

Yes, the Lord Jesus Himself recommends we call God: Father. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba Father!”, as it is written in Galatians 4:6. The word Abba means Father or Daddy in Aramaic.

If you are the son or daughter of the President of the Republic and you go to the Presidential Palace to meet him as Head of State or Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, you will be subject to the protocol to which all those who come to see him under this title are subject. However, if you get there and ask to see Papa or dad, the protocol will get you in very quickly. I experience the same thing with my son. Sometimes, during my meetings, he pops in my office and calls me Dad or daddy, tells me what he wants and leaves without this offending the protocol or the person I’m meeting.

The Lord God urges us to call him Dad! This name portrays an intimate relationship between a Father and his son/daughter. Why do you necessarily want to use Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Sabbaoth, Jehovah Jireh, etc. Meanwhile as Your Father, God provides for your needs, He protects you, heals you etc. In short, He takes care of you as any father would his son or daughter.

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven“, says the Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 23:9. Does He mean that He denies fatherhood to our biological or spiritual fathers? No, far from it, otherwise He would not have commanded that we honour our fathers! If the Master tells us to call no one but God Father, it is to show that all earthly fathers are error-prone and only one remains unfailing is his role as Dad: God!

God is not a mere spiritual genitor through Whom you got born again and Who gave you eternal life.  He is Abba, your Source, your Provider, your Protector, your Liberator, the One Who fights for you, He Who will never abandon you, etc. He is your Dad! He wants you to become aware of it. This is why the Bible emphasizes that the Spirit of Christ that God sends into your heart does not just speak but He shouts «Abba, Father» to be heard, so that you realize that God is your Father!

When you accept God as your Dad, there is a bond created between you, so you enter a covenant with your heavenly Father. Yes, Beloved, if there are bonds that must absolutely be loosed, there are also some that must be bound or activated (Matthew 18:18). A covenant with Abba Father is the quintessential covenant. If you have a righteous bond with God the Creator, you are subject to all the laws of creation. For example, you will have to sow if you want to harvest; you would absolutely have to deserve what you want to get. But if beyond the bond with the Creator you weave with God a bond Father – son/daughter through the channel of Jesus Christ (John 14:6), you will experience divine grace which is an undeserved favour, you will receive all kinds of blessings from your heavenly Father; you will have a privileged covenant with Him. Therefore, keep in mind that God is above all your Dad!

May God bless you!
