Hello [user:firstname | default:Beloved],
In my walk with the Lord, for years, He reproached me for something that will certainly surprise you: He reproached me for my dedication to justice! You will certainly tell me that it is normal for us to be committed to justice because our Father himself is a God of justice. Even so, my love for justice was stronger than my love for God. I really could not stand injustice; I was exasperated and irritated with the acts of injustice some people did. I could not bear these people. Consequently, it led me to violate the two greatest commandments: that of loving God more than anything and that of loving my neighbor as myself (Matthew 22: 37, 39).
The Bible recounts the story of Abraham’s life; He deeply loved Isaac, the promised son, this son he begot in his old age. However, to make him move into another level of glory and blessing, God tested his love by asking him to sacrifice his only son. Abraham brilliantly passed this test and thus activated an extraordinary covenant of blessing on his life, as well as on his descendants (Genesis 22: 16-18).
To what are you more attached than God? Is it your job? Is it your family? Is it material goods? Is it honors? Is it justice? Is it order or organization? Indeed, some people for example, become easily annoyed in front of people who are not very clean, disorganized or late! Others however become bitter and sad when facing a delayed blessing such as marriage.
Beloved, if you lose your joy, your peace; and / or manifest lack of love the day when what (or the person) you are attached to fails you, know that this thing or person is more important to you than God. Can you sacrifice it for God so that your Lord can be your only source of joy? I’m not saying you should hate punctuality or cleanliness, your child or your spouse but your attachment to them should not supersede your love for God. “Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded?” Says the Bible in 1 Corinthians 6: 7 (ESV)? “Why not just accept the injustice and leave it at that? Why not let yourselves be cheated?” Says the New Living Translation version of the same Bible scripture.
When the Lord made this reproach and I accepted to sacrifice my attachment to justice for His sole benefit, I began to glorify Him for the situation of injustice that I was seeing and was no longer making it personal. I learned to keep my joy, my peace and to show love despite these circumstances. God finally gloriously manifested his righteousness where it was lacking.
” He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me,” says Jesus in Matthew 10:37. Voluntarily sacrifice that which took the first place in your heart instead of God and you will be blessed. “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it” says the Bible in Mark 8:35. Yes, you will find in glory, what you will accept to sacrifice for God.
May God bless you [user:firstname | default:Beloved]
