Seek the best bread and water: you will be satisfied !

Hello Beloved,

In John 6:24-26, the Lord Jesus rebuked the crowd because they were seeking Him only because he had given them bread the day before. “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled,” he told them”.

Many people follow Jesus today because they expect Him to provide their needs and meet their expectations. They are looking for work, marriage, money, healing, deliverance, happiness, peace, etc.  However, after meeting these needs, these people are still hungry and thirsty for other things. In John 4:13, the Lord said to the Samaritan woman by the well: “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again”. But when she asked the Lord to give her the water to quench her thirst once and for all, the Lord’s answer was all the more surprising: “Jesus said to her, go, call your husband, and come here. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, you have well said, “I have no husband; for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”(John 4:16-18). What was the connection between this woman’s thirst and her marriage? She was actually thirsty: there was a serious hole in her heart and she thought she could fill it with marriage, but she didn’t succeed!

Beloved, you thirst or hunger for marriage, work, childbearing, healing, money, peace, etc. But will you find total satisfaction if these needs are met? No! I don’t think so! You will always be thirsty and hungry because “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again” says the Lord Jesus in John 4:13. “Our fathers ate the manna in the desert, and they died,” he told the crowd as they were convinced that the Israelites ate the bread that came from heaven in the wilderness (John 6:31,49).

What type of bread and water do you need in order to be satisfied? Jesus answers this question: “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst”, John 6:35. “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” He said again in John 11:40. In the beginning, Man was deprived of one single thing: the glory of God.  He was not deprived of marriage, nor of childbirth nor of happiness, etc., but only of the glory of God! To find this glory is to quench one’s thirst. And this glory is found nowhere but in Jesus Christ.  He is the true bread of life, He is the source of living water.

Do you want to see the glory of God? Do you want to quench your thirst? Do you want to eat the best bread from Heaven? Stop seeking to meet your needs in the first place. You should rather thirst for Jesus and seek Him with all your heart. Eat Jesus by meditating on His word day and night and putting it into practice. If you seek Him first, all other things will be given to you (Matthew 6:33). If you eat the best bread, if you drink of His water, rivers of living water will flow from within you and you will no longer be thirsty or hungry but you will also be a source of blessing for many through this blessing that you are so eager to receive (John 4:14).

May God bless you Beloved
