Hello [user:firstname | default:Beloved],
Unlike cars whose speed is increased by a tailwind, planes need a headwind which generates greater lift through the flow of the wind over their wings enabling them to take off and fly higher.
Tailwind can be compared to the encouragement you receive that motivates you to go forward, to persevere in life. This wind, in a similar way as cars, allows you to go fast. However, it is the opposing wind (headwind) that enables you to go as high as an airplane.
This natural law is also valid spiritually because the headwind is what enables the upliftment of a man, such that he reaches his high spiritual position. So, when God wants you uplift you, He allows headwinds to come your way; hence adversity in your life.
If God recommends you to love your enemies, it is not in vain. The enemy is that person who acts as headwind to your evolution, to your joy, to your breakthrough, to your fulfilment; it is this person who mistreats you, criticizes you, persecutes you, or plots against you. “But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,” so says the bible in Matthew 5:44.
To bless means to say good, to do good, and that is the attitude God wants you to have. Does your boss ask you to give your opinion on the work of a colleague who spends his time fighting you and belittling you? Tell your boss good things about that person! Has anyone insulted you? You can choose to ignore it and ignore what they told you. It pushes you ahead. But if you go further by saying good words to him and doing good things to him, it elevates you.
Yes, Beloved, apply yourself to be a blessing for your enemy. The Bible provides as an example the story of Joseph who, despite the betrayal of his brothers, did them good in the land of Egypt where he was governor. As a result, he received, from his father Jacob, a blessing of elevation above his brethren, though he was not the firstborn (Genesis 49:26, Deuteronomy 33:16).
It is not easy to love and do good to your enemies by your own strength but filled with the Holy Spirit, you can! You can do all things through Him who strengthens you!
Choose to be in the airplane mode and Christ will elevate you!
May God bless you [user:firstname | default:Beloved]
