Hello [user:firstname | default:Beloved],
As you know, when a person gives his life to Jesus, he struggles with the lust of the flesh, which are against the desires of the Spirit (Galatians 5 :17). The Bible says that the works of the flesh are evident and Galatians 5: 19-21 mentions them “… adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like”. The Bible emphasizes that “… those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5: 19b).
To overcome the works of the flesh, do not spend your time struggling to quit doing them! In fact, the more you struggle to abandon them, the more you will manifest them because, according to the Bible, “For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he”. (Proverbs 23: 7a). Your thoughts will always be focused on what you are trying to give up; and that will worsen your situation. So, what should we do? The Bible gives the answer in Galatians 5:16: “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Instead of focusing on giving up the works of the flesh, simply seek to walk in the Spirit. Set your mind on things above (Colossians 3: 2), on the things of the Spirit. Spend time admiring the character of Christ. Admire His goodness, His love, His ability to forgive and you will see that hatred, grudges, bitterness will no longer be your portion. Admire His patience, gentleness and self-control and you will no longer be impatient, angry and without self-control.
Contemplate the glory of Christ and you will be transformed in his likeness because the Bible says: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”(2 Corinthians 3:18)
Do you want to bear the fruit of the Spirit? Walk in the Spirit and you will manifest the fruit of the Spirit! The fruit of the Spirit is unique: it is not many fruits of the Spirit but just one that comes as a package in your life when you set your mind on things above and spend your time contemplating and admiring the Lord. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22).
Be filled with the Holy Spirit and walk in the Spirit, beloved. You will then have dominion on the works of the flesh.
May God bless you [user:firstname | default:Beloved]

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit”.
