When you pray, say “Father”!

When you pray, say “Father”!

Hello Beloved,

A conversation in the Bible is of particular interest to me today and I would like to share it with you. In Luke 11:1-2a, the Bible states that “Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father”.

As you can see, in this teaching that He gives His disciples, the Lord Jesus wants us to address God as a child addresses his father. The Head of State of your country is the President of all nationals of the territory where you live. However, he has a very special relationship with the sons he has begotten. If you want to meet him on a regular basis like all other citizens, you will have to seek an audience with him, and comply with the protocol before meeting him to discuss with him. Thus, the waiting time will depend on his availability to receive. On the other hand, if his son or daughter shows up at the Presidential Palace and asks to see their “Dad”, they can easily see him, even if it happens quickly between two important audiences.

All over the world, a great number of people address God in prayer as Everlasting God, Lord, God, etc. But if all humans are God’s creatures, not all are God’s children. Only those who have accepted Jesus in their lives as their Lord and Savior and who believe in His name have received the power to become children of God (John 1:12). Yes, Beloved, on earth, we are all born creatures of God, but we become children of God. And Christ wants you to be able to enjoy all the benefits of your preferred status as a son when you address God as a Father.

So when you pray, say: “Father”! Don’t just say that word without really meaning it. It is important that you realize, when you pray, that you are addressing not only the Almighty God, the one who created heaven and earth, the Master of times and circumstances, the one who controls the universe, but most of all your Father. What a privilege to be the child of such a great and unique God!

There are so many advantages to being a son/daughter of God. Your heavenly Father knows your needs and He knows that He must take care of you. A child does not need to ask his father (I am talking about responsible fathers, of course) to enroll him in school or buy him his daily food. The child doesn’t worry about it because he knows that his father is taking care of him. As a son/daughter of God, there are things that should not be of concern to you. “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.” the Bible states in Matthew 6:31-32. “Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?  If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!,” says the Lord Jesus in Matthew 7:9-10

It is important that you realize and be conscious, in your walk with God and in your Christian life, of your identity as a son or daughter of God. Doesn’t a dog give birth to a puppy and a lioness to a lion cub? Doesn’t a human give birth to a human? Realize therefore that in Christ, God has begotten you, you were born of God and thus you have the divine nature in you! Therefore, in your prayers, address Him by saying “Father!” and take full advantage of this privileged status!

May God bless you Beloved

 My Bible Scriptures
John 13:13

You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am”.

Revelation 14:7

”Saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water”.

Malachi 1:6-8

A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am the Father, where is my honor? And if I am a Master, where is my reverence, says the LORD of hosts to you priests who despise my name. Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised your name ?’ You offer defiled food on my altar, but say, ‘ In what way have we defiled You?’ By saying, the table of the LORD is contemptible. And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, Is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, Is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favourably?” Says the LORD of hosts…”.

  Matthew 13:54-58

When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Manget this wisdom and these mighty works? Is this not the carpenter’s son?  (…) But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief“.
